Who Do We Help?
For almost twenty years, I have counseled athletes, parents of athletes and coaches who work closely with top athletes. Here are some examples of the issues and concerns that people call us about:
- A PGA golf pro who was having trouble putting in key situations during tournaments
- A baseball player who could not hit after he was struck in head by a pitch
- A super marathon runner who was trying to manage some injuries
- A PGA golf pro who had lost his confidence and could not trust his swing
- An Olympic downhill racer who was doing poorly in her time trials
- A figure skater who was trying to qualify for the Olympics
- A tennis pro who got so tense that his arm felt like cement when he was about to serve
- A basketball player who was having difficulty getting along with his coaches
- An international soccer star who froze in big games
- A member of the US Junior National Golf Team who lost his temper during matches
- A wrestling champ who would get too angry when he competed in matches
- A tennis pro who had an alcohol problem which was hurting his tennis and creating significant problems in his life
- The coach of girl’s volleyball team who needed help motivating her student-athletes
- The parents of a high school track star who was consistently losing to the same distance runner
- A rodeo cowboy who lost his confidence
- An amateur golfer who was a champ on the range, but a chump on the course
- A high school football player who was using steroids
- A baseball catcher who could not make the return throw to the pitcher
- A basketball player who could not make his outside shots or his foul shots consistently
- A bowler who got so nervous he could not steady his body during his approach
- A billiard champion who wanted help tuning out distractions
- A coach who couldn’t motivate his football team
- A mother who was frustrated because her child was losing to lesser tennis players
- A baseball pitcher who couldn’t perform well when college scouts watched him
What Do We Do For Athletes?
We analyze their strengths and weaknesses and teach them how to use sport psychology tools and techniques so that they can perform to their fullest potential. We focus on utilizing the athlete’s strengths to improve their performance and I frequently train the athletes in hypnosis, self-hypnosis, visualization, mediation and relaxation training. We also work on mental toughness training and strategies for winning. I frequently am in close contact with coaches and parents. We form a team to help the athlete master the mental part of their sport.
How Is This Work Done?
Because I have worked with so many different athletes over the years, a lot of this coaching can be done via phone sessions. Call 888-580-ZONE toll-free for your free phone consultation. In other instances, athletes come to see me in my office or I travel to events with the athlete. People who are unable to see me or who do not want to have phone counseling use Stay In The Zone program. Here is a link to order this program: www.stayinthezone.com/get_stay.htm
